You learn politeA�form first. I think it is the best way to learn first.

Japanese people like politeness anyway, especially when we meet the first time and until we become close friends.

Close friends, because in English, “Friend” includes acquaintance.

As long as you use polite form, it will never be rude and Japanese people can understand what you are trying to say or willing to help you to learn Japanese 🙂
